Welcome to the Western Prairie Resource, Conservation & Development Council website! This site is designed to inform constituents and members about who we are, what we can do for you, our activities in Northwest Kansas and how to submit an application for assistance. Feel free to take a look around and give us your input about what you would like to see included in the future.
- Do you have concerns about conservation and our environment?
- Do you believe that conservation decisions should be made
by you and your neighbors?
- Do you believe people can accomplish their goals by working
together?
- Do you believe in a balanced economic growth that provides jobs
and preserves our precious natural and human resources?
Then join us in our efforts to address these concerns and beliefs!
Our Projects.
Here is a highlight of some of our Projects!!
Western Prairie Food, Farm and Community Alliance

The Western Prairie RC&D is the host organization for the Western Prairie Food, Farm and Community Alliance. The purpose of the alliance is to form an alliance of regional counties that look to engage in a collaborative effort to identify the benefits, challenges and opportunities of a successful regional food system that improved access to regionally grown health food and contributes significantly to the environmental and economic wellbeing of our region.
Northwest Kansas Conservation and Environmental Alliance.

The NWKCEA group consists of 9 District Managers in northwest Kansas representing Cheyenne, Rawlins, Decatur, Sherman, Thomas, Sheridan, Wallace, Logan and Gove counties. This group is a subcommittee of the Western Prairie RC&D Council and sponsor a water festival for 4th graders annually in April called the "Kid's Conservation Roundup" and a women's conference every fall called "Women in Denim".
Micro-Enterprise Loan Project

The Western Prairie RC&D also received a grant several years ago to offer micro-loans for business startup and incubation. We have assisted with several small businesses in the area including the Bowling Alley in Oberlin, KS and the Final Finish Auto Body Repair in Atwood, KS. Contact your local RC&D representative for more information on this program.
